Why Most MLM Distributors Fail – Overcoming Some Common Issues

We’ve seen data saying as high as 97% of MLM Distributors will fail. In reality, most quit short of their goals, and could have continued with a few adjustments and some good coaching.

But in life, it is a fact that most individuals will fail in most everything they try. The only real victorious MLM distributors are the ones that just keep going until they finally “arrive.” In inventing the light bulb, Thomas Edison needed to “fail” over 10,000 times. He believed there was no failure, only feedback.

However, there are some things that a new MLM Distributor and his or her sponsor should keep in mind and some things that need to be acomplished to lessen the inevitable failure probability. Here are a few:

Choose the right MLM company in the first place. Countless MLM distributors have been “sold” on the latest and greatest product, company, and or MLM superhero only to be let down by business failure in the company they so carefully selected. Corey Augenstein, creator of MLMInsider.com, and a student of the industry recently remarked that of the universe of hundreds of MLM companies, only about 30 could be even considered for his annual “best companies” review. A good starting point for research is MLMInsider.com’s annual top 10 best companies review.

Get the right teaching and leaders. Training in this industry should not be developed by “experts” who have never been successful themselves. Look to teachers and guides who have an impressive track record and string of accomplishments. But consider also, that not every successful distributor is good at training his recruits. What is the track record of his or her followers? Before selecting your company, check out your new “sponsor’s” background and accomplishments, and those of his own “team.”

Get serious about personal development. The MLM industry can be challenging for some, if not most people. Nearly everyone coming into the industry needs to “adjust their thinking” to get clear about their own belief systems. A highly prevalent paradigm is the “employee mindset,” in which most distributors and their friends/family have been well endoctrinated. How many new distributors’ dreams have been smashed by well-meaning friends and family giving them the advice to: “get a real job,” or “that will never work?”

Get a system. It is crucial to have a systemmatic method for any business. What are some tools used by others to steer toward their accomplishment? Find out and lay hold of the best tools and systems that are available.

Don’t always pay attention to what the MLM company advises (or at least do so with a grain of salt). Recently we heard guidance from a major company to be “well armed” with some recent company news and dressed with the hottest company logo gear during holiday get-togethers with family. Although this may be good in some cases, we have encountered too many times when this manner of “in your face” approach has back-fired. Just be certain you are tactful in sharing only information that is their interest. Or as sales trainer Tim Sales suggests, be more interested in your “prospect,” than in sharing interesting news about your company. We suggest a low-key, low-profile approach, as taught by sales pro, Tom Hopkins. This is usually true with friends and family, who often don’t want to be your “prospects” again during holiday and family times.

Sticking with it is vital for success in MLM (or any venture for that matter), But in order to increase your probability of success, follow these few suggestions and your chances will improve dramatically.

Getting New MLM Distributors Off to a Perfect Start

You’ve got a new MLM distributor, at last the new prospect has signed up. Congratulations! Is your job done then? From now on, are you simply going to sit around and wait for when his commission checks (and yours too) begin to trickle in? Quite the opposite, your work has just begun!

If you don’t want him to fail or to have at best a snail-speed growth, then you are going to have to come up with ways to keep his interest burning. The only way to ensure that is to QUICKLY guide your new distributor to a “Success Path
.”

Simply put, you need to do all you can to assist the new member to start seeing results sooner than latter. That’s the only way they’ll stay motivated. And to achieve that, the new guy must be helped to start right.

Here are SIX steps to follow in ensuring that your new MLM distributor is off to a great start:

Ensure that they Use The Product: This is very important. From experience, haven’t you observed that using the products is both the best way to understand how they work as well as the quickest way to be sold on it?

Indeed, if the new distributor doesn’t make any efforts to use any of the company’s products, can they sincerely say they believes in them? And if they don’t, then should you have even sponsored that person in the first place? Bottom line is, make sure your new distributor is sold and continues to use say 3-4 of the company’s products.

Product Samples: Some network marketing companies have product samples which they give to potential customers. If that’s true of your MLM company, then show your new distributors how to introduce and give these samples to prospective clients.

Many today that have joined network marketing opportunities are as a result of positive impression from the use of product samples. The point is that most persons won’t spend their money on items they aren’t sure will work. But after using a sample for free and getting positively impressed, many become loyal customers.

Retail Sales: Won’t it look bad if after discussing with a potential client your new distributor doesn’t even have any products on him to sell to the customer? How would he even make money without retail sales?

The truth of it is that new members make more money from product sales during their first few months in the business than from recruiting new members.

And you know what effect a few dollars in personal earning can do to the confidence of a new person! Let him decide what products are best for him. But ensure that your new distributor is supplied with a number of products the moment he or she starts to market.

Introduce Them to Your Own Upline: let your new distributor know who your uplines are-both the immediate and extended uplines, the notable ones among them. Make an appointment with them and have them welcome the new guy on board and promise to offer assistance when necessary.

Paperwork: there may also be need to take him through all the paperwork again, including application, product ordering, and any other tool used in your MLM company.

Also make sure he fully understands the company, including its compensation plans, as well as a good understanding of the company’s products and product line.

Finally, Review What Could Possibly Make the New Person Want To Quit: Yes, what things will discourage the new distributor enough to make him consider quitting?

This point is HUGE; forget that we are mentioning it last. Review “emotional landmines” ahead of time and tell your new guy the realistic expectations to have. Such frank talk will take him through the low points of the business when enthusiasm alone won’t be enough.

These are the things you should try and do the moment the prospect signs up to join your company. Review these points with him or her. Never fail to commend their sincere efforts.

And do not expect them to achieve in a month what took you years to attain! If you play your part well as a leader, chances are your new distributor will soon begin to rock, thanks to the solid start you gave them!

If you,MLM distributors are just an ordinary guy, and you are feeling the hurt of this mostly-government-induced long recession–or if you have long thought that you wish you had a better life, with money enough that you can go to any restaurant and order anything on the menu without worrying how you’ll pay forit, with more independence to do what you most want to do–you need to know about Internet-based affiliate marketing, or online MLM.
 
No matter who you are, if you simply have a computer and high-speed Internet access, coupled with the right level of motivation and will to persist, you can ake extraordinary money through online MLM. You don’t need anything more than that.
 
Now, as with all things, the way to be successful with online MLM is to have the right knowledge of the right things to do. No matter how simple they may be,if you don’t know about them how can you do them?
 
One of the first things to understand is that you should not expect really big success to come rolling in for about a year. During this first year you will be setting everything up, and contrary to the get-rich-quick scheme that doesn’t happen overnight. But, if you are persistent and patient and keep building your business day by day, your big payoff will SEEM LIKE it came overnight. Your website should be dynamic and include animation/video, great written content that is constantly kept fresh with new additions, and an attractive layout that makes it easy for a site visitor to navigate it. If you are thinking up the product for yourself, keep it sharply targeted to a niche. Never try to be too broad or be all things for all people. Don’t sell footballs; instead, specialize in selling little green footballs and merchandise that all centers on that theme. Your marketing efforts must be constant, especially during your year or so of building. Use articles, videos (check out the Article Video Robot for this), podcasts, autoresponders, and e-newsletters for your marketing efforts to keep costs extremely low.
 
With MLM, you will make a large portion of your money through the efforts of other people in your downline. So, train your people well. Tend them well. Be their guide. You’ll find a lot of your people don’t make the efforts you need them to. So, when it comes them, forget about them, and focus on those who are serious about the business.
 
The day will suddenly come when you can fire your boss and never again have to worry about any recessions.
