Sound Card recording quality VS External Recording Device quality?

Posted on February 11th, 2010 by admin in plug in profits | 1 Comment »

I am recording a music CD for a local not-for-profit Violin Performance group. I have a HP Computer running Windows XP, and have Sony ACID XMC, and other recording software. Can anyone recommend a good Mic (less than $100) that will either plug into my sound card or USB? It needs at least be able to record in CD quality (44.1khz, 16 bit, stereo).
Thanks in advance for your help.

How to calculate the rate of return for rental property.?

Posted on February 7th, 2010 by admin in plug in profits | 3 Comments »

If I know what I paid, and the value currently, and I know how much profit I recieved per year (which in this case is defined as the distribution of income after expenses- once per year around the first of the year), how can I factor these in, to come up with a rate of return? How do I factor in that some of the distributions were tax-free, and that a portion were not, and these portions are changing from year to year.
Does somebody have an excel spreadsheet that has the fromulas plugged in to do this?

i am looking for a private investor, to help buy an existing bussiness in france.?

Posted on January 26th, 2010 by admin in plug in profits | 1 Comment »

I am looking for a privare investor, to help plug the gap between a bank loan, and the asking price. The amount i need to find privatly to buy this business is 180,000 euros. Thus just under 130,000 sterling.
The business is a bar in the french alps, and has been turning a good profit for many years. There is no building work to be done,as the present owner has done every thing neccessary. The terms of sale are for the business and the contents of the bar as they stand today. But not the walls, as is normal in france. Thus rent will be paid on the walls, for an eventual sale. Thus the plan to own both the business and the walls, in the comming years, and further discussion with the present owner. Any advice on this matter would be most welcome.

Does U.S. Capitalism Only Work When the Profits are Privatized and the Risks are Socialized?

The Financial Times in the United Kingdom is especially critical of our taxpayer bailouts:

http://blogs.ft.com/maverecon/2008/07/time-for-comrade-paulson-the-pull-the-plug-on-the-fannie-and-freddie-charade/

Evidence of the latest bailout:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/15/washington/15fannie.html?hp

The case against Fannie and Freddie begins with their peculiar status: although they’re private companies with stockholders and profits, they’re “government-sponsored enterprises” established by federal law, which means that they receive special privileges.

The most important of these privileges is implicit: it’s the belief of investors that if Fannie and Freddie are threatened with failure, the federal government will come to their rescue.

This implicit guarantee means that profits are privatized but losses are socialized.
If Fannie and Freddie do well, their stockholders reap the benefits, but if things go badly, Washington picks up the tab. Heads they win, tails we lose.

How can I find out who holds the current rights to a song?

Posted on January 18th, 2010 by admin in plug in profits | 2 Comments »

I’d like to record some covers of some songs for profit, but the original artists are mostly dead. So that doesn’t necessarily mean that the songs are in public domain. Is there a simple source that I can just plug in the song title and original artist and see who I need to contact? If so, what is it?

If you discovered an alternative to oil, would they kill you?

Posted on January 14th, 2010 by admin in plug in profits | 11 Comments »

Imagine yourself a young researcher who discovers an incredible new source of energy, an inexhaustible and clean source that will eliminate oil as a fuel source. Word leaks out and the Oil companies try to buy for millions, maybe billions, but you’re determined to give your technology away to the world for free. Idealistic fool! Anyway, with they’re enormous profits at stake, would your life be worth a plug nickel? The image is that of course no legitimate business would ever resort to murder, but how legitimate is that idea? With billions at stake would business ethics still hold? BILLIONS?
*Real Friend*
Haha! Talk about idealism! Do you really believe that shareholders have any say or even any KNOWLEDGE of the high-level decisions the oil co’s make? They may as a group ‘own’ the company but they sure as hell don’t run it! And as long as the dividends keep flowing, they don’t ask many questions, either.

Why are people not angry at private insurance company death squads?

Posted on January 10th, 2010 by admin in plug in profits | 15 Comments »

They have a bottom line that is more important than granny and her health care needs any day of the week. They are more likely to pull granny’s plug if her care cuts into their profits. So why aren’t the same folks shouting at their representatives at town halls not giving hell to the private insurers?
They won’t even ask granny, your mother or anyone they will just pull that plug.
where did I say I liked Obamacare?
OK, not Granny. Let’s say Bob’s plug or Betty’s plug…OK?
I don’t beleive you Queen.
