If you discovered an alternative to oil, would they kill you?

by admin on January 14, 2010

Imagine yourself a young researcher who discovers an incredible new source of energy, an inexhaustible and clean source that will eliminate oil as a fuel source. Word leaks out and the Oil companies try to buy for millions, maybe billions, but you’re determined to give your technology away to the world for free. Idealistic fool! Anyway, with they’re enormous profits at stake, would your life be worth a plug nickel? The image is that of course no legitimate business would ever resort to murder, but how legitimate is that idea? With billions at stake would business ethics still hold? BILLIONS?

Haha! Talk about idealism! Do you really believe that shareholders have any say or even any KNOWLEDGE of the high-level decisions the oil co’s make? They may as a group ‘own’ the company but they sure as hell don’t run it! And as long as the dividends keep flowing, they don’t ask many questions, either.

who the stock holders? Watch out for your neighbor, because they are the real owners of those evil big companies.
Get over it! Invent you invention and present it to the court of capitalism. If it’s truly valuable you win, if not, try again.
The only thing tht does happen is the inventers sell out for a nce chuck of cash. Don’t sell out!

yes. they right now are trying to kill the alternatives that are out there

There are dozens of stuff like that already, including a car that emits only water as it’s by product. the oil companies are done for.

If you did, “they” would probably put your face on Mt. Rushmore.

most of your big businesses are owned by those in high places and government offices don’t think for a single moment your life means anything to them. There is so much happening behind the doors that you may be shocked to find out. Murder is nothing or making you disappear (same thing). You come up with an alternative oil or fuel and your right, your life will be worthless and chances are we will read how you sold it to the oil company and are retired living the life of a king. they wont say the life of king tut. then they will take your idea seal it at area51 and say it didn’t work and go right back to normal. but hey good luck.

I’m sorry, but this is just blatantly ignorant of Microeconomics and Business ethics.

First of all, there is no such thing as a completely free energy. Energy can not be created, only transfered. So there is aboslutely no way that you can just make and sell it for free. Even if it was free, you still need to invest in means of converting it into useful energy, and getting it to people’s homes. So either you don’t charge anything for your money and your workers riot at having to work a job without pay, or you charge below market values, and not only are you selling yourself and your workers short, but you would cause massive shortages as the unscrupulous wastefully buy hordes and hordes of it, putting enormous strain on the supply, thus causing the poorer elements of society to lose out. Selling a product at equilibrium value is the best way to get your product (in this case, the energy) to the most number of people, and as your means for processing and communicating the energy expands due to your rising profits, you can charge less and less. Of course, assuming that a competitor hasn’t already done it. Either way, the consumers win.

Second of all, While corporate espionage and intrigue makes for exciting fiction, there is just no evidence of it happening in the real world. Remember when Pepsi reported to the police when an ex-Coca-cola employee tried to sell corporate secrets to them? Why would Pepsi do such a thing? Shouldn’t the Enron scandal be proof at the vigilance we hold against such things? Why are corporations the only group of people who supposedly try to cheat their fellow men out of their livelihoods? why are, say, governments, unions, or poor people conspiculously absent from this sort of behavior? I am not saying it doesn’t exist, but then, it is a human problem, which has nothing to due with the existence of corporations. And that’s why we have laws.

There is one notable exception, where corporate greed runs amok, and where assassination, spying, and theft are daily parts of life: and that are illegal black market industries. Mafia and cartel run drug industries. Ever heard of Al Capone? He ran a bloodthirsty mafia terrorizing locals and physically fighting competitors… because of illegal alcohol. Once alcohol was re-legalized, legitimate corporations ran the Mafia out of town, and this sort of activity just ceased.

Third, even if corporations are the horrible oligarchial mafias that you claim they are, then wouldn’t a champion of free energy be made a global celebrity? an icon? What kind of outrage would develop if that person was assassinated? Or if the assassin was found to be working for an Oil Company? The company would be lynched!

I would just say relax. The world is not out to screw you over. Find a compelling new source of energy, and I would be the first to gladly pay for it. I don’t like oil companies any more than you do. They make me pay a fortune for my gas. But I will treat them fairly, as I do everyone else.

Love much? And no if you discovered this energy sorce you would be unkillable I would guess. At least if you discovered it the smart way. Its like north korea and the reason they want nukes so badly. Because nukes mean not being attacked. So if every country had nukes no single country would attack another unless really stupid leaders got into office and the people under them where the same lvl of stupidity. Water Is the new energy sorce your talking about but what is water made out of? The answer is love. Thats why when you drink colder water then whats in your body already you get energy from it. Your adding love to the water and the water adds love back to you ten fold. Or something like this…

R.I.P., my friend! Iraq and Afghanistan are great examples of how far the oil industry is willing to go, and how much influence they hold.

This has already happened numerous times and is most likely happening right now too! They have, do & will kill or otherwise eliminate anything or anyone that they feel is a threat.

One good thing though. Now with the www it IS possible to inform the world of such alternatives in detail…

And how would he get it sold? Who would have the ability to manufacture it and then what, give it to the public or sell it to the public.

You must realize that these things are already out there and have been bought up and are kept in vaults so they will not be made for public use.

I don’t think you would be murdered because I think too many “fat cats” are holding the oil business in their fat hands and there is no way to get anything worth while out there yet.
